The vision of Chinese Orphan's Assistance Team (COAT) involves the following:
- To raise the awareness and meet the holistic needs of orphaned children in China.
- To work in positive partnership with all relevant Chinese, Australian and other government officials and organisations to promote a spirit of cooperation and friendship between the Association and the same officials, as well as between China and Australia.
- To assist Chinese Orphanages in looking after orphan children either directly within the local Orphanages' organisation, or indirectly through a partnership arrangement, as the Association sees fit.
- Establishing and managing Schools to provide education and therapy for orphans in partnership with the local Chinese Orphanages, such as Xi Wang Le Yuan (Place of Hope and Happiness) in Jiaozuo City Welfare Home, in Henan Province.
- Establishing and managing Family Homes within or without Chinese Orphanages that take in children from the local Orphanage, such as Ying De Chi Bang (Eagles' Wings) in Jiaozuo City, Henan Province.
- Employ and manage national and international Association staff to assist and work in Chinese Orphanages and/or to work in Association Schools and/or Family Homes and any other paid positions deemed necessary by the Association.
- Recruit, train and manage foreign volunteers to live and work in any Orphanages, Schools and Family Homes managed by the Association in China, or in any other role as required.
- Recruit, train and manage teams of short term volunteers to go and assist with the work of the Association, in order to increase awareness of the Association?s work and to assist long term volunteers and staff employed locally.
- Establish, market and manage a Sponsorship Program for orphans in China to raise finances for Orphans and/or Specialised Schools and/or Family Homes, to enable them all to be fully resourced.
- Raise finances for Association staff and any other projects as deemed necessary by the Association, through direct sponsorship or any other appropriate fund-raising activity.
- To obtain and make available money and financial aid for the furtherance of the objects of the Association and for the acquisition, provision and development of real and personal property and other facilities and services necessary or expedient, for the establishment or conduct, of any of the objects of the Association.
- To make gifts and donations to further any of the objects of the Association within Australia and elsewhere.
- In furtherance of the objects of the Association to print, publish and distribute any newspapers, periodicals, books or leaflets that the Association may think desirable.
- To establish branches of the Association in any part of Australia, or internationally and to pay all or any expenses incurred in connection with the formation, promotion and incorporation of the Association, or to contract with any person, firm or company to pay the same.
